= аминоалкоголи[англ. amino — группа NH2, от ammonia — аммиак, сокр. от лат. sal ammoniacus — соль Аммона, нашатырь; араб. al-kohl — тонкий сурьмяный порошок]органические соединения основного характера, содержащие в молекуле одну или несколько аминогрупп (-NH2) и гидроксильных (спиртовых) групп; некоторые А. обладают биологической активностью и играют важную роль в процессах обмена веществ в организме (напр., холин, адреналин, этаноламины и др.). А., особенно этаноламин, широко используют в производстве моющих средств, эмульгаторов, косметических и лекарственных препаратов, а также как поглотители кислых газов (напр., СО2). К А. относится холин, которому принадлежит важная роль в обмене веществ у человека и животных; препараты холина применяют для лечения печени.
